Knowledge worker productivity – important role for IT
Findings from the workshop on 17th Sept: IT has an important role to play in improving knowledge worker productivity. Many people are spending 20+ hours a week using Microsoft Office and another 10-20 hours using email. Often they have had little or no training and have learnt by trial an error. In most cases there are software features and working practices that would help them be more productive. Often knowledge worker productivity is not on the radar for the IT function.
At the workshop we explored a range of barriers and enablers to knowledge worker productivity and we shared valuable ideas on how to make improvements. From those present it seems the legal profession may well be in the lead – because documents are so central to the business.
The initial summary report provides a brief review of the workshop: Summary of workshop A more detailed discussion paper will follow soon.
Hi,
In practice however this is difficult to implement because it requires not only planning but also that the people working with the modules understand exactly how they work.
Thanks,
